Habenaria davidii is occurring in Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Guizhou, NW Yunnan, E S Xizang of China.

Plants up to 65-75 cm with oblong tuberoids. Stem stout and erect with 5-7 leaves. Leaves ovate, ovate-oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 5-12 cm long, 1.5-4.5 cm wide, acuminate at apex. Inflorescence with 4-15-flowered, 4-21 cm long; Bracts lanceolate, up to 4.5 cm, ca. 1 cm wide, acuminate at apex, the lower exceeding flowers; Flowers large, greenish-white or white; Sepals light green or white, the dorsal oblong, erect, forming a hood, 1.5-1.8 mm long, 6-7 mm wide, obtuse at apex, 5 veins; the lateral sepals obliquely ovate-lanceolate, 1.7-2 cm long, 6-8 mm wide, acuminate at apex, 5-7 viens; Petals white, erect, obliquely lanceolate, 1.4-1.7 cm long, 3-4 mm wide, 3-5 veins; labellum white or lightly yellow, 2.5-3 cm long, 3-lobed from a very short undivided basal part; mid-lobe linear, 20-25 mm long; side-lobes linear, pectinate on the outer margin with 7-10 partly divided fringes; spur 4.5-6.5 cm long, longer than ovary; anther erect, 4 mm wide, cells diverging.

Growing in grassland on mountain slopes, under forest or shrubs; 800-3200 m.
