Plagiolirion horsmannii considerabase estinta, pero foi recientemente redescubierta en 1989.[3]
Plagiolirion horsmannii foi descrita pol botánicu inglés, John Gilbert Baker y espublizada en The Gardeners' Chronicle, new series 2: 38, nel añu 1883.[4]
