Originally obtained from pupae of Ceratitis anonae Graham and subsequently bred on two other species of Ceratitis before the culture was lost (Silvestri 1914).
Spalangia afra is een vliesvleugelig insect uit de familie Pteromalidae. De wetenschappelijke naam is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1913 door Silvestri.
