Archilochus AlexandriThis is the first time I've been able to get a shot of this guy while he uses my feeder, he usually comes in for one sip and then takes off. Oddly he doesn't sound at all like the Anna's hummingbirds while flying, he's nearly silent while the Anna's buzz.
A common hummingbird found in the western half of Texas, the Black-Chinned Hummingbird (Archilochus alexandri) at a bird blind at Pedernales Falls State Park. This is a female hummingbird, lacking the black chin, as seen on the male counterpart half-hidden behind the feeder.
