Limacella illinita var. rubescens (8111852433)

Plancia ëd Limacella illinita (Fr.) Maire 1933

Descrission:

Description: just a sneak peek.. I tried to draw several illustrations for the about-to-be-published Red List of the Khanty Mansiysk Autonomous Region of Russia. We mostly used photographs to illustrate rare fungal species, but some species were so rare (taking into account the "mycologists per square km" ratio) that we simply didn't have any usable photos. Limacella illinita var. rubescens, a relative of Amanita mushrooms, is one of those rare species. It grows in mixed taiga forests, but its ecology is poorly understood. It's probably mycorrhizal with one or several species of coniferous trees, such as the Siberian Pine (Pinus sibirica). It has a very distinctive slimy, gooey veil, which stains vinaceous red on the lower part of the stem. Initially it was a watercolour but I "tuned" it in Photoshop. Date: 4 September 2012, 01:53. Source: Limacella illinita var. rubescens. Author: Tatiana Bulyonkova from Novosibirsk, Russia.
