Physocarpus malvaceus is a locally native woody shrub that grows on moist slopes and near streams in foothill to high elevation areas.While the large leaves are mallow-like, the plant is actually a member of the Rose family.At lower right: leaflets of Lathryus pauciflorus var. utahensis.June 2, 2012, Salt Lake County, Utah, north-facing slope, mountain brush community, approx. 5600 ft.
