Descrission:
Physocarpus malvaceus is a locally native woody shrub that grows on moist slopes and near streams in foothill to high elevation areas. The flowers have two (less commonly more) pistils as depicted above.While the large leaves are mallow-like, the plant is actually a member of the Rose family.June 2, 2012, Salt Lake County, Utah, north-facing slope, mountain brush community, approx. 5600 ft.
