Circus cyaneus
Descrission:
Northern Harriers (Circus cyaneus) are Winter residents of Tavasci Marsh [Arizona] and Peck's Lake [Arizona] (and everywhere else in Central Arizona). I still call them "Marsh Hawks", because that is their favorite habitat. They patrol the marsh regularly looking for rodents and small birds. This sample is of a female, resting in a dead willow tree, Nov. 17, 1997.
