Proteles cristata (Aardwolf) is a species of mammals in the family hyaenas. It is listed in CITES Appendix III. It is found in the Afrotropics. Aardwolf is a nocturnal insectivore. Individuals are known to live for 300 months and can grow to 10000 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Aardwolf relies on running to move around.
