Uredinia hypophyllous, minute, less than 0.3 mm. across, scattered or clustered on indefinite discolored spots, mammillose, pale-yellow, dehiscent by central pore, finally pulverulent, long covered by the overarching epidermis ; peridium hemispherical, delicate, cells small, cuboidal, walls thin, 2u, ostiolar cells much larger, 14-16^ high, wall thickened below, smooth ; urediniospores ellipsoid, or obovate-oblong, 12-17 by 20-24/* ; wall colorless, thin, 1-1.5 /w, finely echinulate with sharp points.
