Common Name: Bouquet Sea-Fog Lichen

Small shrubby fruticose lichen on rocks on coastal bluffs and cliffs. The branches are short and stubby, with abundant clumps of terminal apothecia making it look like a tiny bouquet of flowers.

Look Alikes

The only fruticose lichens on coastal rocks likely to be confused with this species are other Niebla spp.:

N. homalea branches more flattened and longer, with a more scraggly overall habit N. laevigata branches distinctly flattened and smooth N. cephalota rarely on rock, sorediate N. robusta inflated, spongy branches N. procera much longer branches N. ceruchoides densely-branched
