Piscidia carthagenesis, commonly known as fish poison plant by Phalee localites in Longchong Maiphai sub-division, Ukhrul, Manipur, India. It is abundantly available in this adjoining regions. One particular new shoot has been observed in the month of August 2014 near a fish pond. The exact location was recorded with the help of GPS which is N 25007. 953' , E 094016.594' and elevation of 4909 ft from sea level.

It is a medium-sized decidous plant. Its leaves are alternate and pinately compound and pale yellow colour in pubescence and dark green when mature. 5 to 11 leaflest are present in opposite arrangement It is flowering plant and bear bean-like pod with papery wings. New shoots are frequently observed in open newly dug soil and having good amount of sunlight exposure.

It is used as a traditional medicine for stomach problem, headache and also for the ailments of domestic animal by the locals. It is also used for fire wood. Mainly, its extract from root is used for fish poisoning which sedates the fishes which allow them to catch easily in water. Its extract is light brownish colour.
