Rachis winged, bearing subsessile glands between the leaflets; leaflets 3 or 4 pairs, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 6-13 cm. long, pubescent on both sides, acute; peduncles axillary, 2-2.5 cm. long; spikes 2-3 cm. long; bractlets linear-lanceolate to ovate, acute, 10-22 mm. long, pubescent, persistent; calyx 14-22 mm. long, striate, appressed-pubescent ; corolla 21-22 mm. long, sUkyvillous ; staminal tube included; legume somewhat flattened, 4-angled, 18 cm. long, 3-3.5 cm. broad, glabrous.
Type locality : Banks of Colorado River, near Turrialba, Costa Rica. Distribution: Known only from the type locality.

A tree with a rounded top, the twigs angled and clothed with brownish hairs. Rachis of the leaf narrowly winged, bearing long-stipitate glands between the leaflets; leaflets 3 or 4 pairs, ovate, abruptly aciuninate, glabrate and shining above, hairy and strongly veined beneath, 7-21 cm. long; peduncles axillary, solitary or in pairs, 1.5-4 cm. long, hairy, angled; bractlets narrow, 1-1.5 cm. long, hairy, persistent; calyx 11-13 mm. long, pubescent, striate; corolla about 32 mm. long, hairy; staminal tube about as long as the corolla; legume 10-30 cm. long, 3 cm. broad, glabrous, the margin 2-angled.

A shrub, the twigs densely brownish-pubescent. Petiole 1-2 cm. long, densely pubescent; rachis winged, bearing elevated glands between the leaflets; leaflets 4 or 5 pairs, lanceolate to oblong, acuminate, 6-10 cm. long, pubescent on both sides, strongly veined beneath; flowers in spikes 4 cm. long; legume l.S cm. long, somewhat flattened, more or less 4-angled, velvety-pubescent.

A small to medium-sized tree, the twigs somewhat angled, densely brownish-pubescent. Rachis winged, bearing short-stalked glands between the leaflets; stipules large, ovate, striate, deciduous; leaflets 3 or 4 pairs, lanceolate to oblong, acuminate, pubescent on both sides, 10-21 cm. long; peduncles axillary, 5-7 cm. long; spikes 3-5 cm. long; bractlets linearlanceolate, persistent, 10-18 mm. long; calyx 13-15 mm. long, striate, pubescent; corolla 27-30 mm. long, silky-villous; staminal tube about as long as the corolla; legume 12-25 cm. long, 4-angled, glabrous.
Type locality: Las Vifias, Guatemala. Distribution: Guatemala.

A shrub or tree, the twigs angled and reddish hirsute. Rachis of the leaf winged; leaflets 3 pairs, oval, acuminate, 2 dm. long or more, hirsute above, velvety beneath; spikes oblong; bractlets linear-lanceolate, caducous; calyx 10 mm. long, striate, pubescent; corolla 22 mm. long.
Type locality: Teapa, Oaxaca.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality, and to us only from the description.

Inga sapindoides ist eine Baumart aus der Unterfamilie der Mimosengewächse (Mimosoideae). Sie ist in Mittel- und Südamerika beheimatet.

Beschreibung

Inga sapindoides ist ein bis zu 16 Meter hoher Baum mit dicht flaumig rostrot behaarten, korkwarzigen Zweigen. Die oberseitig kahlen und unterseits gelblich feinflaumig behaarten Blätter sind drei- bis vierfach paarig gefiedert, die Blättchen lanzettlich bis elliptisch. Das äußerste Blättchenpaar ist 9 bis 28 Zentimeter lang und 5 bis 13 Zentimeter breit, das innerste 5 bis 12 Zentimeter lang und 3 bis 6 Zentimeter breit.

Der Blattstiel ist ebenso geflügelt wie die Blattrhachis, zwischen jedem Blattpaar sitzen Drüsen. Die Nebenblätter sind 0,8 bis 1,8 Zentimeter lang und 0,4 bis 1 Zentimeter breit, eiförmig und dauernd.

Die Blütenstände sind Ähren. Der Schaft ist bis zu 1 Zentimeter lang. Die Blüten sind ungestielt. Die grünen oder gelblichen, vierkantigen Früchte sind 11 bis 30 Zentimeter lang und 2 bis 3 Zentimeter breit und kahl.

Die Chromosomenzahl beträgt 2n = 26.[1]

Verbreitung

Inga sapindoides ist heimisch von Mexiko über die Antillen bis nach Venezuela und Peru, sie besiedelt dort Wälder des Tieflands.

Systematik und Botanische Geschichte

Die Art wurde 1806 von Carl Ludwig Willdenow erstbeschrieben.
