Rounded cell approximately 6 to 25 µm, locomotive amoeba elongate, 10 to 40 µm. With clear, slowly eruptive pseudopodia. Indistinct hyaloplasm grades into a granular cytoplasm. No uroid, contractile vacuoles or cytoplasmic crystals. Spherical nucleus with a prominent central nucleolus. Uninucleate cysts oval or angular. Pseudolimax is believed to be the same genus. Habitat: commensal, intestine of man, apes, monkeys and pigs.
