Blechnum occidentale (Hammock Fern) is a species of perennial herb in the family blechnoids. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Sergipe, Ceará, Pará, Cerrado, Amazônia, Rio De Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Pernambuco, Roraima, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande Do Sul, Bahia, Mato Grosso, Acre (Brazil), U.S. Virgin Islands, GoiáS, Santa Catarina, Espirito Santo, The Contiguous United States, Puerto Rico, SãO Paulo, Mata Atlântica, Paraná, and Mato Grosso Do Sul. They have compound, broad leaves. They have alternation of generations.
