They are native to Minas Gerais, ParaíBa, Caatinga, Rio Grande Do Sul, Pernambuco, Rio De Janeiro, Bahia, Ceará, Puerto Rico, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Paraná, Sergipe, Rio Grande Do Norte, Cerrado, The Contiguous United States, Alagoas, Mata Atlântica, and U.S. Virgin Islands. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Cerceris prominens, Aporus niger, Carpenter Bees, and Polistes rubiginosus. Individuals can grow to 0.64 m.
