Hypericum perforatum (St John's Wort) is a species of perennial herb in the family Hypericaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Tunisia, Malta, Finland, Hungary, Croatia, Lithuania, Algeria, Uzbekistan, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Syria, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Yugoslavia, Gibraltar, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Slovakia, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Morocco, Belgium, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Poland, Iran, Armenia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Israel, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Albania, China, Georgia, Norway, Macedonia, Kyrgyzstan, Austria, Mongolia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Andorra, France, Russia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cyprus, Estonia, The Netherlands, and Slovenia. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Fannia serena, Early bumblebee, Phorbia, and dingy footman. Individuals can grow to 0.5 m.
