Malvastrum americanum (Bastard Sida Retusa) is a species of shrub in the family mallows. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Sergipe, SãO Paulo, The Contiguous United States, Bahia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Rio De Janeiro, Mata Atlântica, Espirito Santo, Puerto Rico, Cerrado, Mato Grosso Do Sul, and Minas Gerais. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Dorantes Longtail, Anatrytone logan, Augochloropsis callichroa, and Turk's-Cap White-Skipper. Individuals can grow to 0.5 m.
