They are native to The Contiguous United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii. They have loculicidal capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by American Bumblebee, Autumn Meadowhawk, Harlequin Ladybird, and Common Eastern Bumblebee. Individuals can grow to 0.41 m.
