Polygala parrasana Brand. Univ. Calif. Publ Bot. 6: 365. 1917.
Stems several, fruticulose below, procumbent, 4-10 cm. long, densely ascending-pubescent; leaves oval or elliptic-oblong, 3-9 mm. long, 2.5-4 mm. wide, apiculate to obtuse, cuneate at base, rather crowded, thickish, with the 2-3 pairs of lateral veins prominent beneath, pubescent both sides; racemes loose, 3-7-flowered, 1.3 cm. long or less; flowers greenish in drying; sepals lance-elliptic, subacuminate; wings oval, 5.2 mm. long, 3.8 mm. wide, very obtuse, ciliate and rather sparsely pubescent; keel glabrous, 5.8 mm. long; submature capsule oval, ciliate and pubescent with spreading straightish hairs, 6.8 mm. long; aril 1.3 mm. high, 1.7 mm. long on the dorsal margin, the pilosulous umbo 0.4 mm. high, the scarious margin 3-lobed, the lateral lobes ovate, vertical, appressed, the dorsal subequal, descending at an angle of about 45°.
Type locality: Sierra de Parras, Coahuila. Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
