Sparsely-branched, more or less erect annual herb, up to c. 50 cm tall. Leaves mostly spirally arranged, sometimes apparently whorled near the top of the stems, subsessile, ovate-lanceolate to elliptic, 2-10 long, hairless or sparsely pubescent on both surfaces; margin with purple-red teeth, often fimbriate near the base. Flowers solitary or in few-flowered clusters, pink or purplish. Spur on the lower sepal 16-35 mm long, filiform, slightly thickened at the tip; dorsal petal, c. 9 × 12 mm, more or less flattened; upper lateral petals, 6-15 mm long, more or less distinctly 2-lobed at the apex; lower lateral petals, up to 16 × 8 mm, obliquely oblong-elliptic. Upper and lower lateral petals well separated, only slightly overlapping near the base.
