Acaulescent ; flowering branches scapiform, naked, densely glandular-pubescent with short hairs, as well as the petioles, which are 5-10 cm. long ; leaf-blades rounded-oval, 1.54 cm. broad and 2-5 cm. long, truncate, rounded, or slightly cordate at the base, round-
An alpine form almost matching the original H. ovalifolia. lobed, and crenate with rounded mucronate teeth ; inflorescence short and dense, less than 1 dm. long ; hypanthium deeply campanulate. yellowish, densely short-hirsute, together with the broadly oblong sepals about 7 mm. long; petals usually wanting.
Type locality : Blue Mountains, Oregon.
Distribution : Rocky banks and hillsides, Alberta and British Columbia to Wyoming, Nevada and Oregon.
