A glabrous perennial herb with erect or ascending stems, which are rooting at the lower nodes. The leaves are 1-2.5 x 0.8-1.8 cm in size, with a broadly ovate to broadly elliptic blade, an obtuse apex, and a rounded base. The lower leaves are short-petiolate, while the upper leaves are sessile. The flowers are bright blue and are arranged in axillary, alternate few-flowered racemes. The fruit is a capsule that reaches up to 3-3.5 mm.
