They are native to The Contiguous United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. They have compound, broad leaves and drupes. Flowers are visited by Parhelophilus frutetorum, Syrphus vitripennis, Bombus distinguendus, and Pieris rapae. Individuals can grow to 5.2 m.
