Chamaefistula fagifolia (Bertol.) Britton & Rose
Cassia fagifolia Bertol. Nov. Comm. Bonon. 4; 414. 1840.
Branches terete or nearly so, glabrous, or pubescent when oung. Petiole stout, 2-3 cm.
long; rachis bearing a conic gland between the lower pair of leaflets, or between both pairs;
leaflets ovate-oblong, 6-15 cm. long, chartaceous, long-acuminate, glabrous above, pale and
short-pilose beneath; inflorescence axillary and terminal, many-flowered, strigose; pedicels
slender, 2-4 cm. long; sepals oblong, rounded at apex, 6-7 mm. long, sparingly strigose; petals
20-22 mm. long, broadly elliptic-obovate ; ovary with white appressed hairs; legume glabrous,
slender, 15-20 cm. long, about 1 cm. thick, short-stipitate.
Type locality: Mar del Sur, Guatemala. Distribution: Guatemala.
