A shrub, 2-4 meters high, nearly glabrous throughout, or the inflorescence puberulent. Stipules linear-subulate, 1 cm. long or shorter, deciduous; leaflets 3-5 pairs, orbicular to oval or elliptic, 1-3 cm. long, rounded at apex, mucronate, glabrous; gland borne between the lower pair of leaflets, oblong-linear, 2 ram. long ; racemes axillary and terminal, several-many-flowered ; bracts 6-10 mm. long; pedicels 1-3 cm. long; sepals ovate, 6-7 mm. long; petals 10-13 mm. long, yellow with purple veins; anthers all beakless; ovary linear, glabrous; legume straight, 10-15 cm. long, terete; seeds nearly black, 5-6 mm. long.
Type locality: Between Guayama and Guamani, Porto Rico. Distribution: Porto Rico.
