Leaf-blades oblong-obovate, varying to oval or narrowly oblong, 4-11 cm. long, rounded or notched at the apex, nearly smooth and slightly shining above, dull and glabrous or nearly so beneath except the silky midrib, truncate or narrowly subcordate at the base, the stout petioles 5-7 mm. long; flower-clusters short-peduncled, the pedicels usually longer than the peduncles; sepals ovate, 3-3.5 mm. long, the glands scarcely one half the length of the sepal-body, or wanting ; petals yellow, the larger ones 8-9 mm. long, the blades suborbicular, denticulate; mature fruit not seen.
Type locality : Ruatan Island, near Honduras. Distribution : Ruatan and Cozumel Islands, Central America.

Leaf-blades obovate to oblanceolate, more or less constricted near the base, thus somewhat pandurate, 9-18 cm. long, obtuse, sometimes rounded or acute or short-acuminate at the apex, glabrous in age, except the densely pubescent midrib, or sparingly pubescent beneath, truncate or slightly cordate at the base, the stout petioles 2-5 mm. long; flowerclusters short-peduncled, the slender pedicels much longer than the peduncle ; sepals ovate, 3-4 mm. long, the glands often about one half the length of the sepal-body, or wanting; petals yellow, the larger ones 8-11 mm. long, the blades suborbicular, denticulate or fimbriate-denticulate ; samaras 2.5-3 cm. wide, the wings reniform, vein}', finely pubescent.
Type locality : Costa Rica. Distribution : Central America.
