Helianthus petiolaris (Prairie Sunflower) is a species of annual herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Canada, The Contiguous United States, and North America. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Gray Hairstreak, Boisduval's Blue, Gorgone Checkerspot, and Callippe Fritillary. Individuals can grow to 3 m.
