Resembles Valerianella muricata (Stev.) Baxt., but differs in the reduced calyx, the smaller bracts and the narrower achenes. Also collected in Chitral by Harriss (Rech. f., Fl. Iran. 62:16.1969). Grows from 1000-1800 m.

Plant 7-13 cm tall. Leaves 2-6 cm X 3-9 mm, lanceolate to narrowly oblong, often ciliate at the base. Bracts 1.5-3 mm long. Calyx obliquely truncate, shorter than the fruit, often denticulate. Achene 1 mm long, narrowly ovoid, pubescent; sterile locules reduced.
