Flattened gliding cells, with one or two flagella emerging from an anterior ventro-lateral groove, one flagellum trailing behind the cell, the other, if present, is short and also trailing. Resembles Ancyromonas but distinguished by the nature and orientation of the second flagellum. One species M. fluens, Larsen & Patterson, 1990.
