Description of Favella undulata

provided by BioPedia
The cell does not occupy, and so conform to, the shape of the body of the lorica, but, when contracted, its upper third lies well within the bulge of the lorica neck, the position of the cell thus appearing abnormally high, When extended and the flagellum active, the broad neck of the cell protrudes just beyond the lorica mouth, Nucleus, collar, and flagellum norma1. Peduncle apparently a continuation of the pointed base of the lorica, curved, and of moderate length. One basal contractile vacuole. Lorica about 12 microns long
