Kuhlia rupestris és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família Kuhliidae.[4]

Descripció

  • Pot arribar a fer 45 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 25) i 2.700 g de pes.
  • 10 espines i 10-12 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 3 espines i 9-11 radis tous a l'anal.
  • És platejat.[5][6]

Reproducció

Els adults es desplacen riu avall (cap als estuaris o el mar) per reproduir-se.[7]

Alimentació

Els adults són omnívors i es nodreixen de peixets, insectes, crustacis i fruits (com ara, figues) que cauen a l'aigua.[5][8]

Hàbitat

És un peix marí, d'aigua dolça i salabrosa; catàdrom; associat als esculls[9] i de clima tropical (20 °C-26 °C).[5][10][11]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba des de l'Àfrica Oriental[12][13][14] fins a Samoa, les illes Ryukyu,[15] Queensland (Austràlia)[16][17][18][19] i Nova Caledònia.[5][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43][44][45][46]

Observacions

És inofensiu i bo com a aliment per als humans.[5]
