La sardinel·la (Sardinella fimbriata) és una espècie de peix de la família dels clupèids i de l'ordre dels clupeïformes.
Morfologia
És depredat per Scomberomorus plurilineatus, Synodontidae Saurida i Trichiurus lepturus.[7][8]
És un peix marí, pelàgic i de clima tropical (23°N - 12°S, 75°E - 153°E) que es troba fins als 50 m de fondària.[5]
Distribució geogràfica
Es troba des del sud de l'Índia[9][10][11][12] i la Badia de Bengala[13] fins a les Filipines[14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27] i l'est de Papua Nova Guinea.[28][6]
Costums
Forma bancs a aigües costaneres.[6]
Ús comercial
Es comercialitza fresc, adobat amb sal, cuit i com a mandonguilles.[6]
