Lontra canadensis (North American Otter) is a species of mammals in the family Mustelidae. They are listed in cites appendix ii. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to The Nearctic and United States. They are solitary carnivores. Individuals are known to live for 300 months and can grow to 683.1 mm. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on running and swimming to move around.

Definition: Appendix II lists species that are not necessarily now threatened with extinction but that may become so unless trade is closely controlled.
