One of the syntypes of this species (USNM 18196) was collected from South of Charco Azul Bay (Centroid Latitude: 6.16667, Centroid Longitude:-83.10000) Puerto Armuelles, Gulf of Chiriqui, Panama, North Pacific Ocean, by the R. V. Albatross, from a depth of 2690 m.
Another specimen (USNM 1074459) was collected by the R. V. Melville from the Panama Basin (Centroid Latitude: 5.167, Centroid Longitude:-81.683), from a depth range of 3900 to 4000 m.
