Morphology

provided by iArczoo

Female:
Body has a compact oval shape from dorsal view. Rostrum well developed, bifurcate, with slender filaments. A1 symmetrical, 24-segmented, extends to the edge of the 1st thoracic segment.
A2 exopodite slightly longer than endopodite.
1st thoracic segment fused with head. The separation between the 4th and 5th thoracic segments visible only ventrolaterally. Abdomen is 4-segmented. Genital segment symmetrical from dorsal view; seminal receptacles relatively large, bean-shaped. The first three abdominal segments with finely serrated (“frilled”) posterior margins. The 3rd segment is longer than the 2nd, the anal segment is extremely short (about 10% of the previous segment) and completely concealed beneath the serrated edge.
Caudal rami are symmetrical, longer than wide, carrying 6 setae.
P1-P4 with 3 segmented exopodites, and with 1, 2, 3, 3-segmented endopodites in P1-P4, respectively.
P5 uniramous, symmetrical, 3-segmented, with proximal segment separate from intercoxal sclerite. The distal segment is mostly fused with the second and carries 2 short spine-like projections distally and 1 short inner spine subdistally. The relative length of segments is 1<2<3. The inner margin of 2nd segment bears long spinules.

Male:
A1 slightly asymmetrical, extends to the distal edge of the 2nd thoracic segment. P5 asymmetrical, uniramous ; the left leg is longer than the right. The left ramus is indistinctly 5-segmented.
Coxopodite is larger than right counterpart, with sparsely set long spinules distally; the basis contains a lobe-like protrusion distally on inner margin (interpreted as remnant of endopodite). The left exopodite is slender, 1st segment armed with small inner and slightly larger spine disto-laterally ; the 2nd segment carries a short inner row of spinules distally ; the 3rd segment is about 0.5 as long as the preceding segment and incompletely separated from it, with a row of spinules on inner margin.
The right leg 5-segmented, coxa and basis of about equal size, coxa ornamented with distolateral spinules. The right exopodite is shorter than the left, the 1st segment carries a small spine on distolateral edge and spinules; the 2nd segment carries a row of spinules on inner surface ; the terminal segment is more slender, spine-like, armed with small, spine-like projection on outer half.
Abdomen 5-segmented. Genital segment asymmetrical, slightly produced posteriorly on left side ; gonopore opens posterolaterally on the left side.
Anal somite extremely short.
