Oceanites is a genus of seabird in the austral storm petrel family. The genus name refers to the mythical Oceanids, the three thousand daughters of Tethys.[2]

Description

Very small petrels. Wings long. Tail square-shaped with white coverts. Plumage mostly black but sometimes white on abdomen. Legs long, project beyond tail-tip. Feet with yellow webs. Bill short with nasal tubes half the length of the culmen.
