They are native to Puerto Rico, Saint-Pierre Et Miquelon, Canada, North America, Alaska, The Contiguous United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Eastern North America. They have drupes. Flowers are visited by Orange-legged furrow bee, Small tortoiseshell, Monarch, and Bombus griseocollis. Individuals can grow to 8.4 m.
