Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris (Capybara) is a species of rodents in the family guinea pigs. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to The Neotropics. They are crepuscular herbivores. Individuals are known to live for 144 months and can grow to 1208.39 mm. Reproduction is viviparous. They have parental care (female provides care, cooperative breeding, and paternal care). They rely on running and swimming to move around.
