Nassula ornata Ehrenberg 1833

Ovoid ciliate, almost spherical, 250 microns long. The ventral surface is rather flattened. The flange with associated membranelles passes from left to right but does not extend further than the cytostome with its basket of nematodesmata. Contractile vacuole lie in the mid-body region, macronuclei are spherical with at least three micronuclei. Many spindle-shaped extrusomes lie in the cortex.
