Stems erect, 12-35(-55) cm tall, glabrous or sparsely appressed pubescent upward. Petiole 1-3 mm, concave-convex, sparsely pubescent; leaf blade triangular-ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 1.3-3.2 × 0.5-1(-1.4) cm, subglabrous to sparsely appressed pubescent along veins, base broadly cuneate to subtruncate, margin remotely and obtusely shallow dentate, apex acute. Racemes poorly defined, terminal; floral leaves similar to stem leaves, to 8 mm basally, much reduced and elliptic to narrowly elliptic upward, adaxially sparsely pubescent, abaxially sparsely pubescent only on veins; bracteoles needlelike, ca. 0.5 mm, inserted at middle of pedicels. Flowers axillary. Pedicel 1-2 mm, puberulent. Calyx ca. 2 mm, puberulent along veins outside, margin ciliolate, to 4.5 mm in fruit; scutellum ca. 1 mm, to 2 mm in fruit. Corolla purple blue, 0.9-1.3 cm, pubescent outside, sparsely pilose on throat inside; tube saccate in front at base, ca. 1.5 mm wide at middle, gradually dilated to 3.5 mm wide at throat; upper lip semicircular, ca. 1.5 mm; middle lobe of lower lip trapeziform, ca. 2.5 × 4 mm, margin entire; lateral lobes triangular-ovate, ca. 1.5 mm wide, apex acute. Nutlets brown, oblate, ca. 1 mm in diam., warty. Fl. and fr. Apr-Jul.

Escutelaria barbada ye una planta usada en medicina china tradicional. Otros nomes inclúin ban zhi lian (chinu: 半枝莲, pinyin: bànzhīlián). Ye nativa de les zones fríes y aveseos de China, India y Xapón.[1]

Descripción

Ye una yerba perenne que xeneralmente algama un tamañu d'hasta 35 centímetros d'altor, dacuando más alta. Les fueyes llixeramente dentaes son daqué llanceolaes o en forma triangular y d'hasta aprosimao 3 centímetros de llargu. Les flores nacen en pedúnculos que tienen pequeños y afilaes bractéoles. La flor de color púrpura-azul, llixeramente peluda na corola ye de más o menos un centímetru de llargu. La planta crez en hábitats húmedos y bien húmedos, como los campos d'arroz .[2]

Propiedaes

Realícense anguaño estudios pa conocer el potencial médicu d'un antiosidante flavonoide atopáu na planta que trata tumores nel pechu.[3] Estudios realizaos en llaboratoriu amuesen qu'estractos de la planta inducen l'apoptosis en célules de cáncer de próstata de ratones vía activación de la Caspasa 3.[4] La planta utilízase como un remediu de yerbes pa la inflamación y mancadura traumática.[2]

Taxonomía

Scutellaria barbata describióse por David Don y espublizóse en Prodromus Florae Nepalensis 109–110. 1825[5]

Etimoloxía

Scutellaria: nome xenéricu que deriva de la pallabra griega: escutella que significa "un pequeñu platu, bandexa o platu", en referencia a los sépalos los qu'apaecen d'esta manera mientres el periodu de fructificación.[6]

barbata: epítetu llatín que significa "barbada".[7]

Scutellaria barbata, the barbed skullcap,[1] is a species of flowering plant in the mint family, Lamiaceae. It is native to Asia.[2]

Description

It is a perennial herb generally reaching up to 35 centimeters tall, sometimes taller. The lightly toothed leaves are somewhat lance-shaped or triangular and up to about 3 centimeters long. The flowers are borne on pedicels that have tiny, sharp bracteoles. The purple-blue, lightly hairy flower corolla is roughly a centimeter long. The plant grows in moist and wet habitat, such as paddy fields.[2]

Distribution

The herb grows on the flat-lands in South Central China. It is usually harvested at the end of summer.[3]

Therapeutic usage

The herb is used to as a medicine to treat cancer. However, there have been multiple reports that patients who were treated with the herb struggled with inflammation and infection.[4]

They are also used to treat hepatitis, appendicitis, pulmonary abscess, and ascites due to cirrhosis.

Es una hierba perenne que generalmente alcanza un tamaño de hasta 35 centímetros de altura, a veces más alta. Las hojas ligeramente dentadas son algo lanceoladas o en forma triangular y de hasta aproximadamente 3 centímetros de largo. Las flores nacen en pedúnculos que tienen pequeños y afiladas bractéolas. La flor de color púrpura-azul, ligeramente peluda en la corola es de más o menos un centímetro de largo. La planta crece en hábitats húmedos y muy húmedos, como los campos de arroz.[2]

Propiedades

Se realizan actualmente estudios para conocer el potencial médico de un antioxidante flavonoide encontrado en la planta que trata tumores en el pecho.[3]​ Estudios realizados en laboratorio muestran que extractos de la planta inducen la apoptosis en células de cáncer de próstata de ratones vía activación de la Caspasa 3.[4]​ La planta se utiliza como un remedio de hierbas para la inflamación y lesión traumática.[2]
