Dusky Blue Groundstreak

Calycopis isobeon is resident from the southern tip of Texas to Panama, and is largely migratory into North America, occasionally straying as far north as Kansas and east as Louisiana (Scott 1986). Habitats are subtropical open areas. Host plants are dead and moldy leaves, fruits, seeds from many families scavenged on the ground. Eggs are laid singly on shaded detritus on the ground, larvae spend their lifecycle on the ground, not on plants. There are many flights year-round (Scott 1986).

Calycopis isobeon, the dusky-blue groundstreak, is a butterfly native to the Americas, ranging from Venezuela to central Texas. It is very similar to the red-banded hairstreak (Calycopis cecrops) and the two are sometimes treated as conspecific.
