Assumed to be like Barbus conchonius.

Potamodromous. Migrating within streams, migratory in rivers, e.g. Saliminus, Moxostoma, Labeo. Migrations should be cyclical and predictable and cover more than 100 km.

Found in still, shallow, marginal waters of tanks and rivers, mostly with muddy bottoms. Browses close to the substrate in shallow water. Feeds on crustaceans, insects, plankton, plants and other benthic invertebrates (Ref. 13633).
