Zasięg występowania
Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące od Meksyku po środkową część Ameryki Południowej[11].
Morfologia
Długość ciała 8,3–24 cm, długość ciała 10,1–28 cm; masa ciała 10–143 g[11].
Systematyka

Marmosa: nazwa nadana oposkowi w Brazylii, zgodnie z Sebą, i zaadaptowana w języku francuskim w formie marmose przez Buffona[12].
