The Desert Iguana is unlike other Iguana species and only found in hot, arid locations. The Desert Iguana thrives in arid regions; they often stay well hidden in rocks and brush, some even take over other animals burrows.
The Desert Iguana ranges from 12 to 16 inches. The body is rounded while the tail is extremely long and becomes skinnier at the end. Desert Iguanas use camouflage to their advantage; they are a light tan color with black spots all over their body in order to blend in with their environment.
The most common source of food for the Desert Iguana is the creosote bush but they will feed off of other plants and flowers. If insects are found in its habitat, the Desert Iguana will also feed on some. Even though their habitat is arid, the Desert Iguana does not need much water. They are able to excrete salt from the water they consume in order to store the water.
