Der Wipfelspringer (Carrhotus xanthogramma) ist eine Webspinne aus der Familie der Springspinnen (Salticidae).
Carrhotus xanthogramma erreicht eine Körperlänge von 5 bis 8 Millimetern. Der Vorderkörper und die Beine beim Männchen sind tiefschwarz mit nur wenigen gelblichen Haarflecken, der Hinterkörper mit zimtbrauner Behaarung, vorn an den Seiten mit gelblichen Flecken, dazwischen schwarz gefärbt. Beim Weibchen sind auf dem dunklen Vorderkörper gelbliche Haarflecken und Binden, darunter eine bogenförmige Binde, die von einem Seitenauge zum anderen reicht und dabei den ganzen Rücken des Vorderkörpers umrundet. Der Hinterkörper ist beim Weibchen überwiegend gelblich behaart und ist oben mit schmalen, bräunlichen Längsstreifen und einer Reihe sehr verschiedener großer, schwarzer Winkelflecke versehen.
Die Art ist in ganz Europa verbreitet. In Deutschland kommt sie nördlich bis zur Mainlinie vor. Sie lebt vorwiegend an warmen Stellen im Gebüsch und auf niedrigen, locker stehenden Laubbäumen. Sie ist jedoch auch in Obstgärten an alten Obstbäumen anzutreffen.
Die Art ist relativ selten und wird in der Roten Liste als gefährdet eingestuft.
Die ausgewachsenen Tiere sind von April bis Juli zu beobachten. Die Art hält sich vorzugsweise an besonnten Zweigen und Blättern auf und ist dort schwer zu entdecken. Am leichtesten erhält man sie, wenn man das Gebüsch mit einem Kescher abkeschert.

These thermophilic spiders prefer sunny, warm environments. They can mainly be encountered on bushes, on tree trunks and shrubbery.[3]
The adult males of these jumping spiders reach approximately 5.1–7.1 millimetres (0.20–0.28 in) of length, while females can reach a body length of about 7.1–9.0 millimetres (0.28–0.35 in).[3] These spiders are covered with dense hair. The sexual dimorphism of this species is pronounced.
The males are smaller than females. They have a black bright cephalothorax (prosoma) and a hairy, flattened and tapered, reddish-orange abdomen (opisthosoma). The separation between cephalothorax (prosoma) and abdomen (opisthosoma) is well marked. Their black legs may have slightly orange rings. Palps are black haired. [4]
The female's body, according to the mimicry strategy, is mostly brownish, with dark brown markings. There is a yellowish area on a blackish front head, that includes an arcuate bandage extending from one side-eye to the other, encircling the entire back of the fore-body.
The abdomen is oval and slightly tapered. It is predominantly yellowish, with narrow, dark brownish longitudinal V-shaped stripes and spots. Legs are light-dark annulated. Palps are light brown with long white hairs. [4] They have eight eyes with very large anterior median eyes. [5]
Adults can be found in spring and summer, from April to July. [4] They actively pursue their prey, jumping on them. Their eyesight is excellent and very useful in their way of hunting.

Les mâles plus petits sont noirs avec le dessus de l'opisthosoma, qui est aplati et fuselé, orangé. La séparation entre l'opisthosome et le céphalothorax est bien marquée. Ses pattes noires possèdent des anneaux légèrement orangés.

L'addome è ovale e leggermente affusolato, giallastro con striature brunastre strette e scure. Le zampe hanno una colorazione ad anelli gialli e brunastri, mentre i pedipalpi sono marroni con lunghi peli bianchi.
Gli esemplari di questa specie hanno sei occhi, dei quali i due mediani anteriori sono più grandi.
