They are native to GoiáS, Ceará, Pernambuco, Caatinga, Cerrado, Minas Gerais, Amazônia, Mato Grosso, Alagoas, Maranhao, RondôNia, Mata Atlântica, ParaíBa, Sergipe, Pantanal, Bahia, Pará, Piauí, Roraima, Amapá, Espirito Santo, and Tocantins. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Amazilia leucogaster, Amazilia tobaci, Amazilia fimbriata, and Planalto Hermit.
