Bulb is ovoid. Outer tunics are coriaceous and splitting lengthways. Stem is stout. Leaves several and longer than the inflorescence but usually prostrate, flat or lanceolate. No visible sheaths above ground. Spathe lobed and persistent and shorter than the umbel. Umbel hemispherical and many-flowered has dense pedicels. Perianth stellate. Segments are white with a reddish or green mid-vein. Filaments purple and simple, expanded at the base and tapering to the apex. Anthers equalling the perianth which is purple. Style included. Capsule is globose.
