Zasięg występowania
Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Azji Południowo-Wschodniej i Australazji[4].
Morfologia
Długość ciała 43–84 cm; masa ciała 500–3900 g; rozpiętość skrzydeł 95–175 cm[5][6].
Systematyka
Etymologia
Nisaetus (Nisaetos): rodzaj Nisus Lacépède, 1799, jastrząb; gr. αετος aetos – orzeł[7].
Podział systematyczny
Do niedawna wszystkie gatunki z tego rodzaju zaliczane były do rodzaju Spizaetus skupiającym gatunki występujące w Azji, Afryce i Ameryce[5]. Badania molekularne wykazały jednak że gatunki azjatyckie są bliżej spokrewnione z orlikiem malajskim (Ictinaetus malayensis)[8][9]. Do rodzaju należą następujące gatunki[10]:
