Clitocybe subinversa Murrill, Mycologia 5: 212. 1913
Pileus convex, slightly depressed, rather thin, gregarious, Z-S cm. broad; surface smooth, moist, glabrous, very hght brown, fulvous when dry, margin thin, incurved, entire, somewhat irregular, concolorous: context cream-colored, without characteristic taste or odor; lamellae decurrent, narrow, arcuate, many times inserted, rather firm, white: spores globose or subglobose, smooth, hyaline, 3-4.5 (i stipe cylindric, equal, somewhat crooked, tomentose or fibrillose, subglabrous, paler than the pileus, hollow, 3-7 cm. long, 3-6 mm. thick.
Type locality: Portola, California. Habitat: In humus under redwoods. Distribution: Oregon and California.
